Happy Halloween!!

Today, I actually buckled down and worked on WF and even though I thought it was going to kill me I made it through the one over one backstitching. I managed to finish all the backstitching on the fairy and her wings, the acorns, and the mouse. The mouse is even cuter now! I am planning on working on her again tomorrow so hopefully I will knock out the mushrooms and violets.

I probably would have gotten further tonight but as we all know it is Halloween and my two youngest ones were ready to hit the road as soon as it started getting dark. Mac and Allie made out like bandits this year! Mac went as an alien. He loved his mask...it glowed in the dark. Allie went as Chucky. That mess of curls is all natural! I am terribly jealous of her hair. Overall, they had a great time so that is all that matters.

Happy Halloween to everyone!!

Comfort and Joy

I finished Comfort and Joy from Blue Ribbon Designs earlier today. I don't know why but for some reason I really like their designs! Now, it gets to go to the WTF pile until this weekend at least.

I can't believe that tomorrow is Halloween! We will be taking Mac and Allie out trick or treating in a few close by areas. Where we live we don't get any trick or treaters so I don't have to worry about buying lots of candy to give out. Which is probably good because chocolate doesn't last long around here anyways. :)

Have a good evening!

Monday, October 29, 2007

I started another little ornament from the 2006 JCS Ornament issue. This one is from Blue Ribbon Designs. Only problem with this pattern that I have encountered is there was no DMC conversion. I really hate it when a patten uses special threads and don't give the DMC conversion. I am terrible on choosing my own threads! I admit I am cheap and seldom buy the hand dyed flosses. Why? I can not justify spending $2-$6 for one skein of floss for myself. I would rather spend the extra money on yummy fabric or a great pattern.

This week looks like it could be a very interesting week. Mac has after school detention tomorrow. Last week he didn't turn in a paper and was warned he would get one if he didn't turn it in the next day. I had no idea this paper was even due! So now, his teacher and I have a daily homework page that his teacher has to initial and I have to initial so we are both aware of missing work.
Also this week, I have to pull out our fall/winter clothes. I swear I just put them away, too! I have a sneaky feeling that Mac has outgrown all of his clothes from last year. He went through a small growth spurt this summer. The girls I'm not too worried about. I think Krissy (14 yrs) is as tall as she will get at 5'2". Allie (12 going on 13) on the other hand is a mere 4'10". What can you expect? I am only 5'00 tall! LOL. They didn't get any of their dad's genes. He is 6'1" so Mac still has hope:)
Have a great day!

2006 Snowman

It was one of those days where I just didn't have any ambition to do anything. I knew right away that it would be pointless to try and work on WF so I dug out the fabric and fibers I needed to start this cute little snowman. This pattern is from the 2006 JCS Ornament issue and is designed by Ursula Michael. He turned out so cute!!

I am planning on finishing this one into a candy box for my mom. While we were in Omaha I brought my Bone Appetit candy box and Mom fell in love with it. So I told her to pick out an ornament from my JCS issues and I would make it for her. Now, I have to go in search of the perfect fabric for it!

Baby Chick

I finished the square I was working on for a RR. The theme for this RR was "fun." To me, this baby chick looks like his having fun! The design is by Ursula Michaels and came from the April 2006 issue of The Cross Stitcher.

Have a great weekend!

Outer Border Done

I haven't done much stitching the past week so when I got the chance to sit down this morning and stitch on WF I took it. I finished all the backstiching in the outer border. I started working on the fairy's hair but then I had to put her away because I had an afternoon full of parent-teacher conferences with the kids teachers.

I am really excited about how close this one is to being finished. I have to set her aside for a bit to work on a RR. I chose to stitch a baby chick from Ursula Micheals. It shouldn't take me too long to finish and then I can get back to WF.

Have a good evening!

Halloween Exchange from Joanie

We made it back safely from Omaha last night. I will post more later on the events of our trip. After getting things somewhat unpacked I discovered I had some mail. I received my Halloween exchange from Joanie. She made the cutest little pumpkin fob! The pumpkin looks so real. Thank you so much!!

I want to thank every one who left comments on my grandma's death. Your words were truly appreciated and meant a lot too me. Thank you!

Have a great day!

Grandma Nita

I have been on a roller coater ride of emotions this past week! Early this morning my Grandma Nita passed away after battling MDS, a form of blood cancer, for the past few years. Right now my concerns are focused on my mom. My mom is not well herself and I hope (and pray) this doesn't set any health problems off for her.

I will be heading to Omaha Nebraska in the next day or two so I probably won't be posting much in the next few days. I am not sure how long I will be up there, mainly depends on how much time Mike can take off from his job. I will do my best to get caught up on every one's blogs as soon as I can.

Sew In Love

I worked on WF today and finished all the cross stitching! Whoo-hoo. Now, onto the backstitching. Sorry no picture tonight of WF as I was just to lazy to take a picture of her. I am so excited to be so close to finishing her!

However, I do have a small finish to show you tonight. I made this little bag for a friend's daughter. She is all grown up now....she is 6! I stitched Sew in Love from Precious Moments. I know a lot of people don't care for PM but they are just so sweet and simple!

Have a good night!

Almost There

I have been working on Woodland Faerie this weekend and I have to say I have made some great progress. I worked on even more today and just haven't taken a picture because I only have 9 rows left to fill in that hole!!

I have to confess my inspiration to finish this one comes directly from Renee. As we were chatting about cross stitching I mentioned my next TW would be Egyptian Sampler but I would have to find the pattern as I didn't have it. That is when she told me she had that very pattern. She asked if I would like to borrow it and my answer was "YES YES!!" I can't wait to get that one started! Renee, you are the bestest friend a girl could have :)

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

Woodland Faerie Progress :)

There seems to be a little confusion in my last 2 finishes. They are 2 different patterns from the same designer, Blue Ribbon Designs. One is in the 2007 JCS Ornament issue and the other is a freebie from their website.
A Wish for Health and Happiness
Blue Ribbon Designs (freebie)

A Wish for Hope and Peace
2007 JCS Ornament Issue

Today I worked on Woodland Faerie some more. That hole is getting smaller but there is still the backstitching left! I am thinking about focusing on this one until I finish it. In the grand scale of things I really don't have all that much left but what I have done has taken me almost 2 years.

In between breaks while working on WF I will be working on small pieces for exchanges and Christmas. I'm not sure what my next ornament will be yet. I will probably look through the magazine tonight and find something to stitch.

Stuffed Ornament

I finished Health and Happiness into a stuffed ornament. I started out making a ruffle to go around the edge but things didn't work out and I vetoed that idea. I am donating this one to the Diabetes Ornament Tree at my LNS. I hope it finds a good home:)

I hope everyone is having a good night!

Halloween Exchange from Carol

The mailman was super nice to me today. He brought me a package from Carol! She had my name for the USEBB Halloween exchange. She really out did herself! I love all the goodies she sent along. :)

I bet you are wondering what is in the white bag :) Well, it is one of Carol's fabulous fob's AND Dinky Dye Scissors. The scissors are green and purple. Apparently, Carol's does her homework as those are my 2 favorite colors:)

Isn't it too cute?! Thank you so much, Carol!!

I am behind in my blog reading again. I promise to get caught with every one's stitching as soon as I can!!

Halloween Exchange for Svenja

I heard today that Svenja received my Halloween exchange for the SBEBB in the mail. I made her a little box. The design is from Lizzie*Kate and is stitched one over one. I just love the little pumpkin!

Svenja has better pictures. I am no photographer!

Monday, October 08, 2007

Okay I started off finishing this as an ornament but then I thought it would look great as a flange pillow. That got me thinking even more and finally I decided on a small bag. It is the perfect size to hold Christmas cards!

Tonight looks like it should be a pretty quiet evening around here so I am going to work on Woodland Fairie. If all goes well, I should have some visible progress since I will be working on the filling in the huge hole.

I want to thank everyone for their wonderful comments on the needleroll. I admit that I have been considering this finished piece for the Cross Stitch Lottery. I really like how it turned out and if I won the lottery I would enjoy the needleroll. So now the debate goes on...do I keep it for myself or do I use it for the Lottery? Good thing I have time to decide! LOL...look how many times I changed my mind on the bag!

Life's Journey Needleroll

I had a pretty good stitching day today. I bought the fabric to finish Life's Journey into a needleroll. This pattern included directions on how to finish it into a fabric lined needleroll. I have never finished one this particular way so I decided to go ahead and try. I am thrilled with how it turned out! I am definitely keeping this one for me:) The only thing I would alter would be a little more fabric than 1/2 inch on the ends of the needleroll.

A Wish for Hope and Peace

Whew! What a day I had. It started off going grocery shopping followed by at least 5 loads of laundry. In between loads of laundry I managed to put the final stitches in Hope and Peace. This is such a sweet design.

I am planning on finishing this one into an ornament. I already have the fabric picked out. It has holly berries and leaves all over it. I am not sure when I am going to actually get around to finishing it. I have so many things I want to work on and finish but I need more hands!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend:)

Halloween Exchange for Chris

Chris has received the exchange I sent to her for the Halloween exchange on the USEBB. The design is by Jean Farrish (and is a freebie) which I stitched on some fabric that I dyed purple. I was pleased that I found some pumpkin buttons to add to the corners. Aren't they cute?!

I could easily become addicted to making bourses. I don't know which is more fun the actual stitching or the picking out of materials to finish it!

Have a great weekend!:)

Hope and Peace

I have been working on the Blue Ribbon Designs ornament for the 2007 JCS for the past few days. I haven't had any problems with this one other than the one over one stitching. I wasn't thinking when I grabbed some 32 count fabric. Normally, when I stitch one over one I use 28 count fabric. The throbbing in my head reminded me quickly why I don't stitch one over one on 32 count!

Have a good night!

SBQ of the Week

I worked on WF like I said I was going to but it sure doesn't look like it!

Today's SBQ was suggested by Jennifer and is:

What are your favorite online stitching supply sources?

This week's question doesn't really apply to me since I generally get my stitching material from my LNS. I have used Down Sunshine Lane before and I highly recommend them to anyone! My order was processed and in my hands inside of a week.

Peasant for Krissy

About a week ago I picked up a pattern for a peasant shirt for Krissy. I finally got around to cutting the material out and got the body sewed together before I had to put it away last night. All I had left to do this morning was add the sleeves and the hemming. One benefit of my daughter being the same size in clothes as me is I don't have to have her here for the adjustments!

It looks like it should be a pretty quiet evening (once dinner is over) so I am going to work on Woodland Faerie. I have been working on her about once a week but since it is backstitching (there is a ton of it, too!) it really doesn't look too different.
I want to thank everyone for all the wonderful comments on my Halloween box. I bought the box from Hobby Lobby and simply covered it with fabric, glue, ribbon, and my stitched piece. The bad thing is that it's already empty of chocolate...lol!
