Exchange for Terry

I saw today on the SBEBB that Terry has received the bourse exchange I sent her. I stitched an Arm and a Leg from Raise the Roof Designs in the 2006 JCS ornie issue. I stitched it on some 32 count opalescent fabric. You might have guessed that the opalescent fabbies are my favorite. :)

It turned out just a little smaller than I had planned but it still turned out pretty cute.

This week's SBQ was suggested by Kathryn and is:

Have you ever helped anyone else learn to stitch? Have you ever helped anyone learn a new stitch or technique?

I have taught several people how to stitch. I showed my best friend how to stitch on a visit, I have taught all 3 of my children, I taught a friend in Mississippi, and lastly but not least I taught my brother. As for special stitches...I am doing good in learning and mastering them myself!

2006 Snowman Box

I was beginning to think that I wasn't going to find any finishing fabric for Ursula Michael's 2006 Snowman. I have been looking for a couple of weeks and I hadn't found anything that came close to looking good with the snowman. My waiting finally paid off this morning when I came across this beautiful fabric! The fabric has silver sparklies which goes perfect with the opalscent fabric I stitched the snowman on.

As you can tell I haven't done a lot of stitching today. I did start Allie's stocking this morning but I only put in about hour's worth of stitching before I decided to finish the box. I am planning on working on it later tonight after the kids go to sleep. I do have one more piece to finish but it is for an exchange so no picture of it for now.
The only thing bad about stitching for the holidays is it takes stitching time away from my larger projects. Every year I keep telling myself I won't wait till November to start my gift stitching and every year here I am stitching away on gifts because I didn't do it through out the year. Someday I will learn......but when?!

One Ornament Done

I have been working on exchanges and gifts for the past few days. Most of them I can't show as that will give away the surprise. :) I did finish this design by Blue Ribbon Designs into an ornament. As normal, I didn't get it centered perfectly but otherwise I like how it turned out. I forgot to take a picture of the fabric on the back. It is the same fabric I used on the other 2 BRD I finished. Holly leaves and berries.

Today I will be working on a a gift. I don't have much more to stitch so I might have time later to put in a few stitches on Topaz Fairie. It has been ages since I last worked on her and I miss have missed working on her.

Comfort and Joy

I finished Comfort and Joy from Blue Ribbon Designs earlier today. I don't know why but for some reason I really like their designs! Now, it gets to go to the WTF pile until this weekend at least.

I can't believe that tomorrow is Halloween! We will be taking Mac and Allie out trick or treating in a few close by areas. Where we live we don't get any trick or treaters so I don't have to worry about buying lots of candy to give out. Which is probably good because chocolate doesn't last long around here anyways. :)

Have a good evening!

I started another little ornament from the 2006 JCS Ornament issue. This one is from Blue Ribbon Designs. Only problem with this pattern that I have encountered is there was no DMC conversion. I really hate it when a patten uses special threads and don't give the DMC conversion. I am terrible on choosing my own threads! I admit I am cheap and seldom buy the hand dyed flosses. Why? I can not justify spending $2-$6 for one skein of floss for myself. I would rather spend the extra money on yummy fabric or a great pattern.

This week looks like it could be a very interesting week. Mac has after school detention tomorrow. Last week he didn't turn in a paper and was warned he would get one if he didn't turn it in the next day. I had no idea this paper was even due! So now, his teacher and I have a daily homework page that his teacher has to initial and I have to initial so we are both aware of missing work.
Also this week, I have to pull out our fall/winter clothes. I swear I just put them away, too! I have a sneaky feeling that Mac has outgrown all of his clothes from last year. He went through a small growth spurt this summer. The girls I'm not too worried about. I think Krissy (14 yrs) is as tall as she will get at 5'2". Allie (12 going on 13) on the other hand is a mere 4'10". What can you expect? I am only 5'00 tall! LOL. They didn't get any of their dad's genes. He is 6'1" so Mac still has hope:)
Have a great day!

2006 Snowman

It was one of those days where I just didn't have any ambition to do anything. I knew right away that it would be pointless to try and work on WF so I dug out the fabric and fibers I needed to start this cute little snowman. This pattern is from the 2006 JCS Ornament issue and is designed by Ursula Michael. He turned out so cute!!

I am planning on finishing this one into a candy box for my mom. While we were in Omaha I brought my Bone Appetit candy box and Mom fell in love with it. So I told her to pick out an ornament from my JCS issues and I would make it for her. Now, I have to go in search of the perfect fabric for it!
