A Couple of Finishes

I'm sorry for the lack of posts lately but every time I sit down to blog my mind goes blank. Main reason for that is right now it seems like my cross stitching is non existent. I did have a small finish last week.

I had planned on having a finishing weekend but we were busier than I thought so I only ended up finishing one ornament. I still have 7 more to go to finish into ornaments! I finished the stitching on this one last year sometime.

More Finishes

I stitched this small fob up quickly. I have stitched this one many times.....it's just so fun and quick to do.:) I whip stitched the fob together but instead of using poly-fill to fill it I used some rice. The rice gave it just enough weight so now when I lay it on an arm of a chair it doesn't fall off. I wouldn't use rice to fill a larger fob as it probably would be too much weight .

Krissy and Mac started their new schools today. Mac seems to like his class and all Krissy could say was there was only 3 cute boys in the whole entire school but she did say it wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. I give her a week and I bet there are more than just 3 cute guys in the school!
Today Megan turned 6 months old! I swear it was just a few days ago we brought her home. In those 6 months she has grown over 9 inches and gained 12 pounds. We were extremely blessed because she hasn't had any problems arise from being born so early. I wanted to post a picture of her today but she still wasn't feeling the best and wasn't being very photogenic today. She isn't running a fever but she is being clingy. If you have to walk away from her she gets upset and starts crying which in turn causes her to throw up. Nice chain reaction.
As you probably guessed no stitching for me today but I did pull out my stitching notebook and make a list of goodies I need to see if I can find at the LNS. I am hoping to be able to venture out that way sometime tomorrow. I'm not going to hold my breath because I might just decide to stay indoors and stitch instead. :)
Have a great weekend & Happy Stitching to All!

Trick or Kitty Treat Hanging

I actually got something accomplished today! I started out just rearranging my stash when I stumbled across this pre made wall hanging I received from Joanie last year. I just slipped in Trick or Kitty Treat and I was finished. :) I really love how it looks!

Have a great night!

Trick or Kitty Treat

It's been a pretty quiet day so far but that will change in a little while. Mac and Allie have orientation at their schools tonight. Krissy's is tomorrow night. Monday is their first day of school. Normally, I am jumping thru hoops to get them off to school so I can have some "me" time but not this year. That same day I have my appointment in Joplin Missouri with the specialist. That means 90 minutes of driving there and 90 minutes driving back. Yuck.

Yesterday, I decided to work on another little Halloween ornament out of the JCS issue. :) I stitched up Trick or Kitty Treat by Brittercup Designs. I stitched it 1/1 with DMC threads. Again, here is another one that will be placed in the WTF pile. (I had to laugh at some comments on WTF pile.....I thought the same thing the first time I saw it, too! LOL)

I'm not sure what I will work on tonight. I might just pull out a WIP and actually work on it! The only thing I know for sure is Mike promised to make homemade pizza tonight. YUM!!! :)

Have a great evening!

Allie's Stocking Finished!

I thought I was going to have Allie's stocking finished yesterday but Bitsy decided to autograph the stocking with her paw prints. Apparently Bitsy had been playing in my plants and left dirty paw prints on the fabric. Grrrr...I was able to get the dirt out but now that it was completely wet I was going to have to wait for the fabric to dry.

This morning I finished putting the final stitches in Allie's name and proceeded to do the sewing part. In the picture, the blank area above the name looks like it is sewn uneven but I promise this is an optical illusion!

Here is the backing fabric Allie picked for her stocking.

Yesterday I went up to our LNS for our monthly stitchers group. I had fun but since the stocking was at home drying I brought the current gift I am stitching but since it is one over one and the lighting wasn't really good enough for one over one stitching I ended up looking at all the wonderful patterns. Ah...3 hours to look at patterns and not have a child tugging at my shirt wanting to leave!! I was very good and only purchased a few items since I had just bought stuff the day before:)

This weekend I accumulated:

Beatrice-The Trilogy

Britty Bunny-Brittercup Designs

Trimming the Tree-Lavender Wings

package of needles

1 yard white 32 Belfast

2 wood boxes

2 pkgs mill hill beads (for topaz fairy...still have a lot to get!!)

I'm not sure what exactly I am going to work on today. I need to finish the gift I'm working on but I have something in mind for the Frosty Friends exchange. I have already finished something for the exchange but I came across something I think would be better but that remains to be seen!

That has to wait until I get my errands done for today! I have to buy groceries and the post office but it is kind of cold outside and I don't want to go outside. However, I have to do it...for some reason the kids think that they will die if there isn't food here for them to devour when they walk in the door after school. Enough talking about it...I have to get my butt up and do it! :)

Enjoy your day!

Three Kitties and Half a Tree

I stitched what I could on the Britty Kitty Stocking yesterday. I did run into town this morning and picked up the colors I need to finish it. Of course I just couldn't leave the LNS without without buying a couple of new patterns and some 32 count Belfast Linen.

It has been a pretty quiet evening around here tonight so I am going to go and work on Allie's stocking for a little bit.

Have a good night!

One Kitty Done

I made some good progress on Allie's stocking yesterday. That is, until I ran out of green for the tree! I should be able to pick up the floss needed either tomorrow or Saturday which means I should have the stitching finished this weekend.

I am planning on working on the stocking today but I am not expecting to get a lot done. I woke up this morning with a nasty cough and a stuffy head. I already took some cough medicine (yuck!) so I am planning on snuggling under a nice warm blanket with a hot cup of of hot chocolate!

Have a great day:)

A Small Start

I worked on Allie's stocking today. It is stitching up nicely. Of course, it isn't stitching up fast enough for Allie!
Nothing really exciting happened around here today. The highlight of my day today was I bought myself a new hot chocolate mug. I already broke it in and had a cup of hot chocolate this evening! :)

Have a great night!

Shopping Mess

The Thanksgiving rush is over and now the Christmas rush begins! We had a nice day yesterday. We had some turkey with friends and came home and had more turkey with just the kids and us. We cooked too much and ate way too much but it was all so good!

I wasn't planning on going to town today with it being the day after Thanksgiving but Krissy needed a book from the library for school on Monday. So I took a deep breath and made my way out in the mess of shoppers. First stop was at Hobby Lobby to pick up some finishing fabric for Allie's stocking, next was a Wal-mart for some sore throat medicine for Krissy and Mac, and then finally (or so I thought!) was stopping at the library. As I was pulling into the parking lot I thought it looked a little bare and immediately realized the library was closed! Grr....now I had to make a trip all the way across town to the bookstore to buy the book instead. After buying her book, we finally made it home only for me to realize I forgot to stop at the post office. Luckily the tiny town I live in (I'm serious if you blink you will miss it!!) does have a post office so I didn't have to run back to Rogers.

Stitching wise I don't have anything to show because I didn't even look in the direction of my stitching stuff yesterday. I can show you the fabric Allie picked out for her Christmas stocking.

I am planning on starting her stocking (Britty Kitty Christmas Stocking) sometime this weekend. It shouldn't take me too long to stitch it up as it is a rather quick pattern to stitch. Tonight I am hoping to finish a gift I have been working on this week.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Puppy Stocking

Here is the last of the stockings I finished on Monday. This one is Krissy's stocking and she picked everything out herself. I was able to keep it hid from her until I was completely done with it. She loves it! The smile and hugs I got from her was worth it.

I just love the fabric used for the backing/lining!!

I have been stitching some this week on Topaz Fairie. I just love the flowers! They are such a pretty color.

I want to thank everyone for their comments on all the stockings. My mom and step dad were thrilled with them. Now, all I have to do is get them mailed off! I only have to finish one for Allie and one for Mac before Christmas. I should be able to get it done. Mike and I will have to wait till next year for ours.

Enjoy your day!

Kitty Stocking

This morning I finally decided to go ahead and finish the finishing my mom's stocking without the present buttons. I only had one small glitch in the sewing of the stocking and that was I forgot to leave and open space in the lining to pull it through. Ooops! I was able to fix it with no problem. I love my seam ripper! :)

I want to thank everyone for their visits and comments. I have been rather bad at commenting this past week. It seems every time lately I sit down to start reading something happens. I am going try to get caught up this week!
Have nice day!

Krissy's Stocking

It has been another crazy week for me so last night when I put the last stitches in the Britty Puppy Stocking I was really dancing...lol! Krissy loves it and want to go looking this weekend for finishing fabric. We might do that but I won't get around to the finishing as I STILL need to order the charms. Yes, I am a procrastinator...lol.

Have a good day:)

Puppies

I actually have some stitching progress to show! I worked on Britty Puppy Saturday night and yesterday. I probably would have stitched on it until the wee hours of the morning but I ran out of both 936 and 3371. The only stitching (besides missing colors) left is the name banner.

I finally got everything to start on my Halloween exchanges. I had the patterns picked out and a finishing technique in mind but I needed the finishing fabric. Since I needed to pick up the DMC floss I figured I should go ahead and pick up some fabric. Hopefully, the exchange pieces turn out as cute as I have it in my mind!
Thank you for your comment on my stash:) I have to admit Angel of the Morning is the one that seems to be standing out the most to me.
Have a good day!

Yesterday FIL decided to take me to breakfast which was a nice thought. However, after the food was served I took 3 bites of the biscuits and gravy that I ordered and quickly decided I did not like it. I silently thought to myself that my puppy dog was going to have a nice treat. So, I got a "to go" box and saved it for Girly. When I got home and gave it to her and she wouldn't even eat it and she isn't picky about her food either! Now, if a dog won't even eat it that is BAD! FIL wants to take me to lunch on Friday and I hope this time it will be edible.

I didn't get a lot of stitching done last night. Usually I like to stitch after the kids have gone to bed but last night my neck was hurting so I knew that I would end up making mistakes and decided to stop while I was ahead.

I should get to stitch a good amount today since Mike has the day off and all he wants to do is catch up on some much needed sleep. He has been working 10 hours and a day 6 days a week. He is supposed to have Thursdays off but they have been extremely short handed so he has had to work on Thursdays. This has been going on for about 2 months and he is has been a walking zombie. So, while I let him sleep today I will be content to stitch quietly.

Have a good day!

Britty Puppy

Today was the second day back to school for the kids and again I wasn't able to enjoy the peace and quiet. I was able to squeeze in a few minutes of stitching this morning. I started Britty Puppy stocking for Krissy. All I got done was the back leg of the puppy and some of the Christmas tree.

Have a good night!

A Critical Point

It has been a pretty quiet day so far around here. The kids slept in this morning since they stayed up late last night. That left me able to clean the house and do the laundry. At least it is all done and I don't have to do anything tomorrow! I am planning on not doing anything at all tomorrow..unless of course I want to...lol!

I have been so happy to work on Geisha these past few days because of all her bright colors! This pattern is fairly easy one to stitch. There are a good amount of quarter stitches but there are only 3 sets of blended colors! There is a lot of backstitching to do so I am sure that will maker her even prettier!

I worked a tiny bit on the finishing for the freebie exchange. So far, I am loving how it is turning out. Right now I am at a critical point of where I could easily mess it up and no way to fix a mistake if it happened. Unfortunately, I have a headache coming on so I have placed it aside for now. It's nothing bad, just one over one stitching. Guess I can say that..doesn't give too much away:)

If I get the chance to stitch later, I am planning on starting the Britty Puppy stocking. It is easy to stitch and shouldn't hurt my eyes since I am using 28 count fabric. :) However, it could easily change if I get the chance to run by my LNS tonight. I got an email the other day that my dragon stocking pattern is here. I can't wait to start on that one! All depends on the if it is raining or not. I don't like to drive in the rain. Either way, looks like a new start tonight for me:)

Have a good night!

Thursday, June 21, 2007

I finished the backstitching on the exchange piece last night but I didn't start the finishing. I think I will wait a little bit before I attempt the finishing. This morning I cut and zig zagged the edges of the fabric I will be using for Krissy's stocking. She wanted the Britty Puppy Stocking. I'm not sure when I will start on it. Maybe this weekend.

Speaking of this weekend, this Sunday (June 24) is our 14 year anniversary! I am not sure what we are going to so since it falls on a Sunday. One thing, I know for sure, we will be doing is going to the park we got married at and ring the bell that is there. Quirky I know, but after we said our "I do's" the bell was rung so we have kept up the tradition and have gone back every year and to ring it. Whatever we do I am sure we will have a good time.

Before I forget, Jenna asked where the freebie was that I stitched for the biscornu fob. Here is the link. It is from Kitty T. There are a lot of cutie freebies there!

Mom's Stocking

I finished Mom's stocking today! Whoo-hoo!!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

One stocking stitched and only 6 more to go. I am stitching Christmas stockings for Mike, the kids, my mom, my step dad, and me this year for Christmas. I have 2 more of the Britty Kitties to do, 1 of the Britty Puppy, and 3 Dragon ones. At least the Britty ones are rather quick to stitch up.

I hope all the Dad's out there have a wonderful day tomorrow!

One Kitty Done

It was a pretty normal day around here today. Krissy went up the road to a friends house so she was in and out of the house all day. Mac has been outside roller blading trying to do jumps...car keys are next to purse in case of accident! Allie has been pretty calm today and reading some books today...need to take her temp to make sure she isn't sick:) With all of them busy doing their own stuff that left me to do some stitching in peace.

I first finished the tree on the stocking. I ended up having to frog the top of the tree after I had taken this picture. I was only one stitch off so it wasn't a lot to frog and restitch.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Then I stitched the kitty in the tree. I think he (or she) turned out really cute! Now, I am working on the strip for the name. The only trouble I see is making sure I have the name centered correctly on the fabric.

Have a great weekend!

Kitty Stocking

I started the Britty Kitty Stocking today. The actual cross stitching shouldn't take me too long but finishing it into a stocking could be a different story. At least I have a few months to find the perfect fabric! :)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Thanks for all the comments on Above the Clouds. I am really enjoying stitching this one so far. I think by the time I am done with ATC I will be ready to start stitching on Woodland Faerie again.
