Bone Apetit-Again!

Here is another of my Halloween finishes. I actually have had this one done for awhile since I stitched it before I finished Renee's fob. You might notice in Renee's fob the bone is backstitched and it isn't in this one. It is little things you change that sometimes makes all the difference. Anyways, I am still quite pleased with how it turned out. It is the perfect size to keep my candy stash! It holds one bag of Hershey's miniatures perfectly. :)

I haven't worked on any stitching today. I did work a little bit on some sewing. I decided to make myself a pair of gauchos. I have it all done except for the hemming. I hate hemming (almost as much as I hate backstitching) so I will probably do that sometime tomorrow.

Halloween Cube

I have been busy finishing my last Halloween things the past few days. I decided to try a whip stitched cube. I am not too sure if I like it or not. It's not a big cube only 3 inches by 3 inches. However, my kitties think it is a great toy!

It has turned out to be a pretty quiet night for us. Allie has a friend spending the night but we have lost them to make up and hair spray for the evening. Krissy being the older sister she is (only by 15 months), is giving points of advice. LOL Of course Mac being the ornery little brother keeps popping in on them and making them mad at him. Yep, that is a pretty normal night around here!

I hope everyone is haveing a good weekend!

Health and Happiness

I can't believe it is Thursday already! It feels like it should be Tuesday. Wonder where I lost my week? Oh, I know! I have spent most of running errands and chasing my tail. At least it is all done and now I can catch up on my blog reading.

This morning I finished this freebie from Blue Ribbon Designs. I didn't stitch the snowflakes because the floss was white and wouldn't show on the fabric. I will be finishing this one into an ornament.

I want to thank everyone for their comments on my bourse. This was my first attempt on a bourse so I was quite pleased with how it turned out. I simply love it!!

A Bourse

Today has definitely been a better stitching day than yesterday. This morning I set out to find some fabric to finish Leaf from Bent Creek and Life's Journey from Full Circle Designs. I was successful in finding some fabric for Leaf but I didn't find anything I liked for Life's Journey. I love how it turned out except I might change the drawstring ribbon to a different color.

Last night I started on a freebie from Blue Ribbon Designs called A Christmas Wish of Health and Happiness. This particular freebie was in the packet of freebies I got last year for donating to The Busy Needle Ornament Tree. (This freebie is now available at their website.) I am planning on donating this one when it is finished to the Ornament Tree. I am also planning on stitching A Wish for Hope and Peace from the 2007 JCS Ornament issue for the tree.
Happy Stitching!

Bone Appetit

I had big hopes of working on a project today and even possibly starting on the finishing. Boy was I wrong! I have always admired mail art (stitched envelopes) so I was all set to start that project today. Problem #1). It did not specify what fabric count to use. Problem #2). The size they gave for the fabric to be cut out was too small. Well, I should not say too small, it just didn't leave enough room for me to finish it comfortably. There was less than a 1/4 inch of extra fabric. I like for mine to have plenty of extra on the sides. I can always trim excess off the fabric...I can't add fabric to it! All in all it was a complete mess. *Sigh* This isn't a good way to start off the week.

I do have a little something to share. I made this cute little fob for Renee. It is from Lizzie*Kate and called Halloween Thrillogy. I really like how it turned out! I haven't actually mailed it out yet since Renee just moved to Texas and I want to make sure she is getting her mail before I send it out.

Ornament Tree

I survived the day of running around with the kids and even stopped by my LNS. Like everyone else, I had to get my copy of the JCS Ornament issue. I also brought my stockings in to show Sara (LNS owner) and another stitcher fell in love with it so I helped her locate the pattern. I love enabling stitchers:)

However, that wasn't my main reason for my visit. I went there to talk to Sara about the Annual Diabetes Ornament Tree. Last year I wasn't able to make an ornament for the tree but I did make a donation and got the cutest ornament and an awesome packet of freebies. I encourage everyone to make an ornament and/or make a donation to this great fundraiser!
(This is the ornament I got last year)
I didn't work on any stitching last night but I did find time today to finish the project I started the other night. I think it turned out cute so it will be going in an exchange. While I was in the middle of finishing the finishing on that one I thought of another possibility for an exchange so I will be starting that one tomorrow but I am not so sure if it will work or not. It is a finishing technique I have admired but have never tried so it may not turn out so great.
I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend!

Another Flower Done

I finished another flower on Topaz Fairie. I started on the wing but I ran out of DMC 451 so I have put her aside until I run to the LNS.

I did start a new project yesterday. I can't say too much about it because if it turns out like I have pictured in my mind (how many times have I said that!) I might send it in one of my Halloween exchanges.
Tomorrow is going to be a busy day for me. I have to take Allie to a birthday party, Mac has something going on at the library, and Krissy wants to spend the night with a friend. Of course, all three locations aren't even in the same town! Hopefully during all that running I can sneak by my LNS and pick up the floss I need.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Puppy Stocking

Here is the last of the stockings I finished on Monday. This one is Krissy's stocking and she picked everything out herself. I was able to keep it hid from her until I was completely done with it. She loves it! The smile and hugs I got from her was worth it.

I just love the fabric used for the backing/lining!!

I have been stitching some this week on Topaz Fairie. I just love the flowers! They are such a pretty color.

I want to thank everyone for their comments on all the stockings. My mom and step dad were thrilled with them. Now, all I have to do is get them mailed off! I only have to finish one for Allie and one for Mac before Christmas. I should be able to get it done. Mike and I will have to wait till next year for ours.

Enjoy your day!

Dragon Stocking

I was in a finishing mood yesterday so I finished the other two stockings. Here is Mine All Mine for my step dad.

We have had some beautiful fall like mornings the past few days. It has been nice and cool in the mornings when we take Girly outside. She loves to run around in the yard when it has dew on it. Mac is getting excited about the leaves falling. We always rake the leaves into a huge pile and let the kids play in it. Our puppy dog loves to chase the kids into the pile, too. By the end of the day everyone is sneezing and rubbing their eyes but we keep doing it every year! LOL
I hope everybody is enjoying their day!

Kitty Stocking

This morning I finally decided to go ahead and finish the finishing my mom's stocking without the present buttons. I only had one small glitch in the sewing of the stocking and that was I forgot to leave and open space in the lining to pull it through. Ooops! I was able to fix it with no problem. I love my seam ripper! :)

I want to thank everyone for their visits and comments. I have been rather bad at commenting this past week. It seems every time lately I sit down to start reading something happens. I am going try to get caught up this week!
Have nice day!

Washclothes

I made it through the boxes of yarn yesterday with lots of help from the kitties. That part was a mess but once I was able to take back all the yarn that they stole from me I decided to start off with some wash clothes. They turned out okay...nothing spectacular. I think in the near future I will probably start on an afghan. The worst part is picking out the colors for it! There are so many yummy colors of yarn to choose from.

I'm not sure what I will end up working on today. Lately I have been feeling a little restless when it comes to my crafts. I have been considering trying my hand at quilting but I have to admit I am a little intimidated by it. I have always been fascinated with this hobby. My grandma made us quilts when we were younger and I loved them. However, she passed away before she could teach me and nobody else in my family quilts.
I want to thank everyone for their get well wishes for Mac. He still feels a little yucky but he has been tormenting his sisters so I know he is on his way to to normal.
Have a nice afternoon!

Gift From Hazel

I didn't work on any stitching last night because when Mac got home from school he wasn't feeling good. He had started a small cough the night before and now he was complaining his head hurt and he was running a small fever. I gave him some medicine for his head and he laid down in bed with a cold washcloth over his forehead and pretty much went to sleep for the night. This morning he was still running a fever so I kept him home from school. He didn't object to it either and went right back to sleep! He finally woke up a little bit ago and decided he was hungry so this is a good sign.
Anyways, I do have something stitchey related to show. :) Hazel had a drawing for some of her beautiful fobs and I was one of the lucky winners. My picture doesn't show the sparkly threads she used. It is really beautiful! Even hubby thought so and tried to steal it from me! Thank you so much, Hazel! You are such a sweet person. :)

I am not sure if I will work on any stitching today as I have been wanting to pull out some yarn and crochet something. I got a bunch of yarn leftover from MIL when she passed and I have been wanting to do something with it. I'm not sure what I am going to crochet yet, I still need to see what colors I have but I'm sure I will find something.

Have a nice weekend!

More Fairie

I am sure you are all getting tired of seeing the same thing all week but I really love stitching on her. I didn't work on Topaz Fairie yesterday because I worked on a Halloween exchange. I had both of them done but I decided I really didn't care for the finishing job on one so I restitched the pattern and finished it another way. I am glad I did because I really like how this one turned out. I just hope my partner likes it!

The signs of fall are everywhere! Autumn is my favorite time of year. This morning I noticed some of the leaves are starting to change colors. We still have a few weeks to go before we hit the "peak time" when the leaves are the prettiest to see. I can't wait till then! :)

Have a nice day!

Quiet Day

My day was quiet yesterday, so quiet that I fell asleep on the couch reading a book! One minute is was 11 am and the next thing I know it is 2 PM. It was a nice treat but I could do without the kink in my neck now!

I finally sat down to stitch when the kids went to bed. I really love this one and didn't want to put it down last night but around midnight I finally put her away. I am really enjoying stitching this one. :)

I hope everyone has a great day!!

Shhh...I'm Hiding

Here is my progress on November Topaz Fairie from this weekend:

It's not much but so far no frogs!

Shh..don't tell anybody but I'm hiding from the world! LOL...no, not really. Mike had to take my car today so I will be hanging out around the house today. I doubt anybody will stop if they don't see my car so I am thinking I might take advantage of it and do some stitching:)

Redwork Exchange From Amy

I received my redwork exchange from Amy yesterday. Isn't this beautiful?! I think it is:) I didn't even have to hunt for a place put it. I knew as soon as I saw it that it would look great on my dresser. I have a dresser with a mirror and it has little areas running up the mirror for me to put my special things so I can see them everyday. Thank you, Amy, for such a wonderful exchange!

I was right it rained all day yesterday. So.....I prepared and cut the fabric for Topaz Fairie! When I say "prepare" I mean sewing the edges to keep from fraying, wash, dry and iron the fabric. Then I got all the DMC flosses out and started stitching. I didn't get much done last night since it was late by the time I actually started stitching. I am hoping to work on her for a bit today.

This morning before Mac and Krissy got up (Allie is at a friend's house) I was looking at the calendar and realized that NEXT month Krissy is old enough to get her learner's permit to drive!! I have been preparing myself for this for a few months but the sudden reality that it will be here in 37 days hit me this morning. I am so not ready for this stage! The first time she rode her bike without training wheels she rode right into the side of a parked car! She forgot to use the brakes. Another time she ran right into the back of me....because she forgot to use the brakes. First things first, she has to pass the test. I am sure she will do fine on the test. Krissy is very book smart. She has always been on the Honor Roll and has received many awards.

I am off to enjoy a lazy day. I hope everyone has a wonderful day:)

Trick or Treat Bag

Here is OOPS finished into a Trick or Treat bag for Mac. I really like how it turned out and so does Mac. He thinks it is the cool. I guess that is a pretty good compliment coming from a 9 year old boy. The finished size is 14x15 inches so it should work perfectly for holding his Halloween loot.
This morning I ran into my LNS to pick up some things and while I was there I showed my bag to another stitcher. When I mentioned that it was for my son she commented that she would never let her children use it. I have always made things for kids and let them use them. Am I strange that I give my kids cross stitched gifts that they can use? I figure that the lady was referring to the fact it might get ruined by the kids. Although, it would be sad to see a gift ruined but at the same time it is being used and to me when it is used that is the highest form of compliment.
It doesn't look like we will be doing much this weekend. It has been raining for the last 3 days and no signs of stopping either. Today I got my November Topaz Fairy from Mirabilia so I might just start on her. I am going to stitch her on some 32 count white opalescent fabric. I still need to purchase the beads and kreiniks but at least I can start at least! :)

Exchange from Vonna

Today when I opened the mailbox I had a package waiting for me. Vonna put together this wonderful exchange for me:) The tin is so cute! She sent the scissors AND the fob inside of the tin. I love the fob!! All of the extras are great. Thank you so much, Vonna! :)

Thanks for all the comments on OOPS. I smile each time I see that witch. I did finish OOPS into a trick or treat bag today. I will post a picture tomorrow:)

Have a great weekend!

OOPS!

This is such a cute finish! I will be finishing this one into a tote bag for trick or treating. I already have the fabric so if I have time tomorrow I will work on the finishing.

Today's SBQ is:

Would you ever stitch one of your BAPs a second time? (This does not include starting over because of mistakes, bad fabric, etc., rather stitching something from the first stitch for a second time.)

This is an easy one...No. All the BAP's I stitch are for me. However, if my mom or brother were to really want one stitched for themselves I would re-stitch it but that is the only exception.

I think my house is back to normal after the 3 day weekend. I spent a good part of the day yesterday cleaning the house. Today I did the grocery shopping and laundry. Of course, it started to rain while I was shopping and I parked my car a little ways from the entrance so I got soaked by the time I had put all the bags in the car! I had come prepared in case it rained and brought my umbrella but it works better if you actually bring the umbrella in with you.

I started a small Halloween design from Angel Stitchin yesterday. I am about half done with it so if the rain continues I should have it finished by tonight. This particular pattern is so cute and funny.

Many of you asked how I was going to finish Life's Journey and I am going to finish it as a needleroll. I mentioned that I didn't have any fabric to go with it because I am going to try a new (new to me at least) finishing method using fabric on the ends. If anyone has finished one this way feel free to leave me any tips on this finishing method.

Life's Journey

I finished this cute design a little bit ago but when I went to look for finishing fabric in my stash I couldn't find any fabric that looks good with it. Bummer...I was looking forward to finishing it tomorrow. Oh well, looks like I will have to go fabric hunting this weekend:)

Life's Journey
Full Circle Designs

Tin Exchange for Amy

My tin exchange for Amy arrived at her house over the weekend. The design is from Heart in Hand. When I came across the pattern I knew I had the perfect fabric to finish it.

Today I have been extremely lazy! The biggest thing I did was cook dinner tonight and even that was just hamburgers. This also means I have been stitching for most of the day. Last night I started a small design from Full Circle Designs called Life's Journey and I am about 30 minutes away from finishing it. I am planning on finishing it into a needleroll tomorrow.
I'm off to continue my lazy day! Have a good night.

Feeding the Fish

I have been working on Woodland Faerie but it sure doesn't look like it!

We spent the day at FIL's house. He lives right near Beaver Lake so we took the kids down to the marina and fed the fish. Of course, Mike and Mac were going crazy over the fish and I was just hoping nobody fell in the water! Luckily nobody fell in the water:)

As far as I know we are just going to have a lazy day around the house tomorrow. I have no objections to that plan! I am more than happy to sit and stitch all day long.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!
