My Sweet Baby

You came into our lives unexpectedly and had everyone wrapped around your little paw. Now you leave us just as unexpectedly. You were the sweetest little girl. Rest in peace my sweet baby.

Snowman Start

I think it is safe to say that Spring is here. About 7 o'clock last night we had some very nasty weather. We got it all! Rain, wind, and hail.

Here is my progress on Snowman and Friends by Linda Gillum. I have a feeling I am going to love stitching this one! This stocking is going to be mine when finished. I was looking at the other patterns in the book and I found one called Winter Fun on Ice by Linda Gillum that I think I might do for the baby.

Have a great weekend!

A New Stocking

It is Thursday so that mean after tomorrow I can hide the keys to "Mom's Taxi" and relax! I have been stitching but I can't share pictures yet. I started stitching one project and about halfway through I realized I had a BIG mistake. I had stitched this particular piece 1/1 so it just got tossed. I do not have the patience to try and frog out 1/1 this week! It actually turned out to be a good thing because I found another pattern (2/2 this time!) that I stitched up and finished yesterday for a blog gift. Now all I have is one blog gift left to finish and then I can mail them out.:)

I did manage a new start last night. I started working on my stocking.:) It is called Snowman & Friends. I didn't get far enough along last night to take a picture. It is the stocking in the center.:)

Mac is finally pre-registered at the hospital and is all ready for his surgery next Friday. He is supposed to have his surgery done at 10:00 AM so if all goes right Mac won't have to spend the night in the hospital. Dr. L seems to think Mac will be able to go back to school in 3-5 days. Mac will be on restrictions for a couple of months after the surgery. He won't be able to get his ear wet for a couple of months afterwards. Swimming is completely out for this summer already. He won't be able to participate in PE because of the possibility of sweat running in his ear and can't go outside on hot or humid days. I definitely foresee a cranky boy this summer!

As for my pregnancy, everything is going great so far. My first 3 pregnancies I had morning sickness from even before I officially found out I was pregnant right up to the delivery room! This one I have had a few waves of nausea but nothing like before. Believe I am not complaining one bit.:)

I want to thank everyone who has left me comments. I really appreciate them.:)

Have a great day!

Gift From Sonda

I was having a typical Monday, you know the kind where you either you have to stand and wait in line for 30 minutes or you are put on hold on the phone for 30 minutes. Waiting is not my best virtue. :( However, my day got a lot better when I peeked in my mailbox and saw an envelope waiting for me. Sonda had a drawing for her blogoversary and my name was drawn. :)

I was totally blown away when I opened the tin! She made me an amazing beaded fob. My picture doesn't show the color of the beads very well but they are a VERY pretty blue-green. She also sent me a skein of Lagoon Green from Carrie's Creations. I absolutely love it! Thank you so much, Sonda!!! You did an amazing job on the fob.:)

Here is a close up of the fob. Don't you think the little seahorse is adorable?

Have a great day!

Busy Week Ahead

I know its Monday but it sure doesn't feel like it! Today is the last day of Spring Break for the kids and I don't know who is ready to go back more.....them or me! This is going to be a busy week for Mom's Taxi Cab. Krissy has try outs for Pom Squad this Friday and has been practicing her routine for the last 2 months. Allie has a choir practice this week (and the next couple of weeks, too) for a choir concert that they are going to in Branson Missouri. I also have to call the hospital and pre register Mac for his surgery. He will be having the surgery done on his ear on April 4. Oh yeah, somewhere in there I have to schedule a physical for Allie to try out for Pom, too!

Normally I have a picture of Harvest witch to show you but I didn't work on her yesterday. Renee had company last week and I knew she wasn't going to get much stitching done so I figured I would wait till she is settled back in her normal routine. Instead I worked on Tour des Marques. This one is a slow moving one but little by little it will get finished.:)

I want to thank everyone for their comments on my wall hanger. I have plans to make another one for the baby to put beside his/her crib for things I need to reach quickly. I am not sure what kind of design to use for it. Do I use a small birth announcement or cute little design to go with the bedding? I know technically I still have time to decide but there is so much to be done before he/she gets here!

Have a great day:)

A Stitching Holder

I mentioned yesterday I had a finishing in mind but I had to find a pattern. My pattern hunt wasn't successful so I ended up stitching something real simple....Crafts By Dawn. :) I stitched it using Needle Necessities #183 on 32 count linen.

Once the stitching was done I was ready to try my hand at making a craft display/holder. I had bought the plaque with hooks earlier in the week but I wasn't for sure what I would end up using it for. However, as I was trying to take a picture of the door hanging yesterday I thought..."I really wish I had something to display this on when taking pictures." That is when I thought about the plaque I had and how perfect it would work. :)

Since this is a first time finish for me there are a couple of mistakes. You can see on the bottom where my trim didn't lay down nicely but I was trying to work around the hooks but it isn't too bad. Also I swear it is a trademark of mine or something but it looks a little crooked in the pictures but when I take it down (and measure it!!) it isn't. Weird. Oh well, guess I might have to make a few more just to get the finishing down.

As you can see I didn't waste anytime finding something to display!:)

Have a great night and a wonderful Easter!

I finally got around to finishing Stitching Days into a door hanging. Originally I had intended to finish it as a needle roll but I didn't leave enough room for the finishing on the top and bottom. Then I figured it would look nice as a pinkeep but when I was looking for ribbon I came across this pretty tassel hiding in my stash. So I finally decided on a door hanger.:)

While I was finishing Stitching Days I had an idea for another finishing. I have everything I need to finish it except for a design. I think I will dive into my stash and see what I can come up with today.
Have a great weekend!

Half Done

I just finished putting in the last stitches on page 2 of Egyptian Sampler this evening. Whoo-hoo! I am at the halfway point on this one. :)

Have a good night!

Egyptian Sampler

It has been dark and rainy here today. It has rained so much that the ditches are full of water along the sides of the roads. So what does a girl do on a day like this? Cross Stitch of course! :) I worked on Egyptian Sampler on Monday night so I just picked it back up today.

It is supposed to continue raining tonight and tomorrow so hopefully I should get some good stitching done. :)

Before I go, Chiloe, ( I'm so sorry I forgot to answer before now!!) asked what are the ages of my kids. Krissy is 14 but will turn 15 before the baby is born. Allie is 13 and Mac just turned 10 years old.

Stash for Me

My LNS was having their anniversary celebration this week so on Friday I stopped by to browse the patterns. I was glad I did because I came across these patterns I just had to have! lol Even better was I got 25 percent off my total that day. :) I also put my name in for the daily drawing for a $25.00 gift certificate...and I won!

  1. Skeleton Crew-The Cross Eyed Cricket
  2. Halloween Short Stack-Waxing Moon Designs
  3. Stacked Pumpkins-Lavender Wings
  4. Pumpkin Patch-The Prairie Schooler
  5. Stanly-The Triology
Itching to Stitch asked what problems I encounter with my last pregnancy that cause me to be on bed rest. At 6 weeks I started spotting, the Dr. put me on bed rest till I stopped spotting. I didn't stop and the Dr. realized at 12 weeks my placenta had been torn. Under normal circumstances this isn't a major problem but at 16 weeks my water broke. At that time I had to be hospitalized and have blood and plasma given to me. That itself was a bad experience because they collapse my veins in my arms! Anyways, at that time, the outcome did not look good.

The doctors told me that I would go into labor within 24 hours but I kept trying to tell them I wasn't having contractions. A week later and no contractions they released me from the hospital telling me that I was going to be back soon. They were brutally honest and told me that I might deliver a stillborn child. I am not going to say it was mother's instinct but I knew this baby would be born alive. As if this all wasn't bad enough when my water broke Mac was in a breach position with one leg up by his head and one leg crossed in front of him. That is when we knew for sure that I was going to have to have a C-section when the time did come.

From 16 weeks on I received shots to help mature his lungs every week. Oh boy did they hurt! It seemed like every week I was having an ultrasound but it always showed good blood flow through the cord. The reality of our situation was Mac had 1% chance of surviving. At 29 weeks Mac decided he had enough and was ready to meet the world.

When he was born he weighed 2 pounds 14 ounces and was 14 1/2 inches long. He was so tiny! He spent 2 months in the NICU. Amazingly he had minimal problems after he was born. He is definitely a fighter! He is our miracle baby.

Weekend Stitching

Today was Harvest Witch day. :) I really love how she is turning out! I ordered the Kreiniks for her this weekend so hopefully in the next few weeks I will be able to fill in the blank spots.

I also finished this freebie called Stitching Days from Glory Bee this weekend. I was going to finish it into a needle roll but I didn't leave enough room at the top for the finishing. That is okay, I think it will look fine as a pinkeep. :)

Have a nice evening!

I Got A Suprise!!

It has been an unusually crazy week for me which means I haven't gotten a lot stitching done. I have managed to put in a couple of nights working on TdM. It doesn't look like it but that is about 6 hours of stitching progress from last post.

I also have been working on the gifts for Kendra, Chiloe, and Dee. I have one finished already but I am trying to see if I can get all 3 finished and mailed out at the same time.

For the past week or so I haven't been feeling like my normal self. I have been extremely tired. Tired to the point I have been falling asleep before 10:00 PM every night which isn't like me at all. I usually don't put my stitching needle away until around midnight. At first I thought it was because my iron level is low, which turns out it is low, but that isn't the cause of my tiredness so to speak. The reason I am so tired is because I am pregnant!

The news came is a complete shock but we are thrilled about it. I am about 5 1/2 weeks along right now with a due date of November 15 which just happens to be my birthday. Krissy and Allie haven't said much about it other than teasing me I will be getting bigger. Mac promptly told us if it is a girl to leave it at the hospital! LOL...I guess he is rooting for a boy. :)

I am scared and excited about this pregnancy. Excited for the pending arrival but scared of the pregnancy itself. I had a horrible pregnancy with Mac and I almost died. I have spoken to my doctor already and he assures me that he doesn't think I will encounter those problems again. He didn't even put me on bed rest! With Mac I was on complete bed rest from the time I was 6 weeks pregnant until Mac was born at 29 weeks. However, things are looking good right now for this pregnancy.:)

Have a great evening!!

Early Morning

I woke up long before everyone else did in my house today. I took advantage of the quietness and worked on Harvest Witch. I filled in the rest of the cape, stitched the wheat stalks, and started on the pumpkin.:)

With Harvest Witch worked on and put away for the week that leaves me with a small problem. What do I work on for the rest of the evening? LOL It will be either Egyptian Sampler or a blog gift just not sure which one.
Enjoy your afternoon!

Drawing Winners

I had a busy morning of grocery shopping, cleaning the house, and laundry. However, a little bit ago, Mac drew the names of the winners of my blog gifts.:) And the winners are......

Dee
Kendra
Chiloe
Ladies, please email me (msgal28 @ gmail.com) with your address information. I can't wait to get started!:)

It's sad to say but I don't have any stitching to show you today. Yesterday I did manage to start the biscornu over in the color purple. Becky K, I had to chuckle to myself at your comment because that is exactly what I was thinking! :)

Today was Mac's CT scan finally! He did really well and laid as still as he could. He did say his nose started itching right after they started but he didn't scratch it. Hopefully, we should hear from the doctor in the next few days about when he will actually have it done.

I haven't shared a picture of awhile of my kitty, Bitsy, in awhile. I lovingly call her "my freak" cat. She has the weirdest quirks. For example, she loves to go outside and play in the rain and snow! I have had kitties that like to play in water but I have never seen a cat willingly run outside in the pouring rain and refuse to come back inside.

Have a good evening!

Biscornu 20

I finished this biscornu up this afternoon. :) This is a freebie that can be found here.

I stitched it on 32 count opalescent raw linen. I used 221, 223, 224, and 225 DMC colors.

This biscornu will be one of the three gifts that I send out. There is still time to add your name to the drawing. Just leave me a comment here.

Fob from Mylene

Would someone please kindly tell me exactly what season we are supposed to be in? Sunday it was nice and 70 degrees, yesterday it was cold and rainy which turned into sleet and snow overnight. I woke up this morning to a winter wonderland. I wasn't surprised to find out school had been closed.

Even though it was raining yesterday, it was a great mail day for me. Mylene gave away some fobs on her blog and I was lucky enough to receive one. I love the fob she sent!! Thank you, Mylene, you are such a sweet friend:)

I worked on TdM yesterday for about 90 minutes before I had to set it aside. I have quickly come to the conclusion I will have to work on this while the kids are in school or after they have gone to bed. I tried to get a good picture of the colors of the fabric but so far no success.

I started a small design last night. I should be able to finish the stitching on it today. I was thinking about using it as one of the drawing prizes. We will wait and see, I might just not be able to part with it!

Weekend Stitching

The weekend turned out beautiful! The temperature reached 70 degrees yesterday. It was such a nice day that I took Girly out to play with her Frisbee. She was in puppy heaven! I tried to get Gracie interested in playing but all she wanted to do was chase Girly around the yard.

Saturday I started working on Tour des Marques. I decided to stitch this one 1/1 on some hand dyed linen called Rainbow Dreams. It reminds me of a beautiful sunset. I haven't taken a picture yet because it still is just a blob.

Yesterday I worked on Harvest Witch for a little while. As you can see, she now has a kitty to keep her company. :)

Today I will work on Tour again for awhile. The only thing bad (for me) about stitching 1/1 is I can't work more than 2 hours at a time on it before my eyes start hurting. It should be a pretty quiet day so maybe I can make some progress today. :)

Happy Stitching!

Blogoversary Drawing

It is hard to believe that in one week my blog will turn 3 years old! I guess the saying is right...when your having fun time flies by.:) As my way of saying thank you for being my friend, I would like to give away 3 gifts. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post. I will draw the names and announce the winners next Saturday.

Have a great weekend:)
