Autumn is Near

Autumn is almost here! Yeah! The weather today was perfect fall weather. It was just chilly enough to lounge around in pants and a comfy sweatshirt. :) I have also spotted a few trees starting to turn colors. I guess you can't tell I love this time of year. :P

Today was a pretty quiet day which is good because I was able to do some stitching. As you can tell by the hold in the shovel I haven't had a chance to pick up that color. It is a good thing I waited because I ran out of 2 colors today. It wasn't a surprise I was just hoping I wouldn't run out. I am hoping to make it to Hobby Lobby some time Wednesday (that is the only day I won't be going to a softball game).

If I am able to make it to HL on Wednesday I definitely see a finish for me this weekend. :)

Happy Stitching!

Blue Angels

The past few days have been busy for us. Thursday Krissy had 2 softball games and Friday she had another game. Thankfully we get a small break and the girls' don't have a game until Tuesday.

Saturday was a busiest day of all. The kids and I went with my soon to be SIL and her son to see the Navy's Blue Angels perform. This makes the second time I have seen them perform and I am in complete awe of these very talented people. Most of my amazement comes from the fact I am scared of heights so it amazes me that not only do they get in a plane willingly but they also do tricks willingly. I swear just watching them come flying towards the ground at that rate makes my stomach jump up in my throat!

Here are a few of the pictures I took....

Look close at this one......one plane is flying right side up and the other is upside down! Amazing!!

Notice how close the top two planes are?

We took it easy today and just lounged around the house which meant I was able to get some stitching done on my snowman. I only have one page left to stitch and I will be happy dancing. :) I will try and post a picture of my progress tomorrow sometime.

Have a good night!

Not One But Two

It is hard to believe but Megan turned 11 months old today. The day started out normal until at breakfast Megan started gnawing on her hands and upon inspection (finger in mouth) I discovered she had cut her first tooth! I spent the rest of the day trying to get a picture of her tooth but she would not open her mouth for me to see. Stubborn child. It wasn't until late in the afternoon that I discovered she had cut not one, but two teeth! This definitely explains the crabbiness lately. I might add that I still have not actually seen the bottom two teeth yet as she won't keep her mouth open for me to look!

I worked on my snowman again today. :) That is until I ran out of DMC 3722. :(

Have a great evening!

Errand Free Day

Today was a rather pleasant day (not talking about the weather because it was raining) because I didn't have a bunch of errands to do today. :) So I took advantage of some leisurely time and went to the bookstore. I ended up coming home with The Belgariad Volume 1 by David Eddings. (contains the books: Pawn of Prophecy, Queen of Sorcery, and Magician's Gambit) I have read these books before and I love them!

I even got to stitch some today! Thank you for all your wonderful comments on this snowman. :) I really love how he is turning out especially on the fabric that I dyed using tea. I can't get over how perfect (IMHO) it all goes together. I am seriously considering just using tea dyed fabric for all my projects!

Today was one of those days where I wish I could clone myself and manage to be every where I need to be on time. Krissy had a scrimmage game after school and I wanted to be able to watch the whole game as it turned out I only got to watch the last 20 minutes. :( I did get to see her in her uniform. Ironic thing is she has the same number I wore in softball. She claims it was because it was the smallest uniform they had.....guess what that is the reason I had my number, too!

Chiloe~the pattern I am using is in a booklet so the pattern is on 4 different pages. I generally stitch one page at a time so the result you saw was 2 pages fully stitched.

Have a great night!

More Stitching

I got a good amount stitched today as it was Mike's day off from work so he guarded me and my floss from quick little hands....and man is she quick! The result is I was able to finish the snowman's hat and I gave him a face. The red blob will be a shovel when I get it finished.

Megan wasn't feeling the greatest today so I gave her some Tylenol. Since it had been a few weeks since she has needed any I figured I had better weigh her to make sure she gets the right dosage. My little munchkin weighs 21 pound 6 ounces!! I guess you can tell she doesn't miss too many meals...lol. :)

Have a great night!

Relaxing Stitching Day

I decided yesterday (no matter what!) I was going to have a nice relaxing stitching day. For the most part I managed to do exactly that. :) I finished the scarf (just gotta love all those color changes...NOT!) and almost finished the snowman's hat. I have plans on finishing the hat later on today. :)

This week looks like it will be a busy one for me. Krissy has a scrimmage game Tuesday night and her first game on Thursday plus her normal practices after school on the other days. Allie has decided to try out for the school musical so she has workshops Mon and Tues then auditions on Wed, Thurs, and Fri. It is a good thing I like my vehicle because I will be spending a lot of time in it this week!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Naps Required

My stitching time is pretty much limited to when Megan is sleeping. This would work out if my little girl would sleep for more than 30 minutes at a time. She isn't bad about waking up at night but when it comes to her morning and afternoon nap thinks that they are unnecessary. Which is totally wrong because if she misses her morning nap or doesn't sleep at least an hour she is a cranky girl for the rest of the day.

A good example is yesterday. Megan got up at 6:30 AM and usually takes a nap around 9:30 (a good nap for her is 2 hours) but she wouldn't not lay down and I had to do some errands around 11:00. She did fall asleep in the car for about 20 minutes but the moment we got home she was wide awake and cranky till she finally fell asleep around 2:00 PM(which is her normal nap time) but she woke up around 3:00 extremely cranky and whiny. Her normal bedtime is 9 PM but last night by 7:30 she was wanting to go to sleep. I managed to keep her up another 30 minutes before she passed out from exhaustion. When she goes to sleep early she will wake up around midnight thinking it is time to get up and play. Which is what happened only it was about 2 AM when she woke up. She fell back asleep about 30 minute later but was up ready to go at 7:00 AM. Let's just hope today goes better!

Since Megan elected to not take her naps yesterday I didn't get to work on any stitching.:( Good thing is Mike is off work today so I should be able to stitch for a few hours this evening after picking Krissy up from ball practice.

Have a great day!

Making the Team

I couldn't believe how quiet the house was yesterday with the kids back at school! I'm not complaining because that meant I was able to do some stitching uninterrupted. I worked on Rain with Attitude while Megan took her morning and afternoon naps. I love how fast this one is stitching up! Best part of this pattern is no special kinds of thread....just good old DMC threads. :)

Krissy first day of school was great she told me. She loves all her classes and got to talk with lots of her friends she hadn't seen over the summer. However, softball practice was the best part of the day for her. They announced who made JV team and Varsity team. Krissy made Varsity!!! I am so proud of her! :) Since she is only a sophomore she will also be playing on the JV team so that means my evenings will mostly be spent at a ball field, at least until the middle of October.

Allie is thinking about going out for swimming and tennis this year. Tennis should prove to be interesting as I don't know the first thing about the game. She still isn't for sure but she has time to decide since they don't start till later in the school year.

Mac seems to like his teacher this year. He says she is strict but very nice. Hmmm.....I bet that changes the first time he forgets to turn in his homework!

First Day(s) Back to School

I survived another summer vacation and the older three kids are all officially back in school today! Mac and Allie started yesterday but Krissy didn't start till today. Allie's day was boring I was informed but that was to be expected as it was freshman orientation all day long. Although the day didn't start out boring as her bus was over 20 minutes late picking her up. The bus arrived on time today so hopefully the driver has worked the kinks out in her driving schedule.

Mac's First day of 6th grade

Allie's first day as a freshman (9th grade)

Krissy's first day as a sophomore (10th grade)

Now, with the kiddos back in school it is just Megan and me during the day. You would think that Megan would be upset as she doesn't have her big sisters or big brother to play with but she is content to play with her toys and chasing our dog around the house. It is quite comical to see Megan chasing Girly around because once Megan catches her Girly give her big kisses and Megan will start laughing and then try to get Girly to chase her. I am pleased that the two of them get along as Girly was a little jealous of Megan when we brought her home. It wasn't so much Megan she was jealous of but more jealous of the of the attention Megan got but once Megan started rolling around Girly decided that she wasn't such a bad thing to have another playmate.

I am planning on pulling out my stitching in a little while when (if) the munchkin lays down for her nap this afternoon if not I will definitely do some stitching tonight. :)

Have a great day!

Last Day of Summer Vacation

I am so glad to be sitting down right now! The kids and I went with the in-laws to the zoo today. I didn't get very many pictures taken this time as I was pushing Megan in the stroller. I am not that coordinated to be able to push a stroller AND use a camera...lol! Grandma and Grandpa T. decided since everyone but Megan had sunglasses that she need a pair also. I might add that it took her falling asleep for her to actually leave them on her face.....the rest of the time they were in her mouth! :)

Today was the last day of Summer vacation for Allie and Mac! Whoo-hoo!!! Krissy starts back on Tuesday and then I really will be able to relish 7 hours of peace and quiet...well as much as Megan will let me.

I really hope with the older 3 kids returning to school this week that my stitching time will increase and my blogging mojo will return. :)

More Ornaments

It is a good thing I really don't rely on what the weather forecaster predict otherwise I would never be dressed right! Contrary to what they predicted last night, it was a hot and sunny day here. I was able to stitch a little in the morning and little this evening. As you can tell I am whittling my WTF pile down. All I have left to finish is 2 more ornaments and, of course, my stocking but that has to wait a little longer till Christmas fabric come out. :)

This even was Mac's open house for school. Let me tell you, even I am a little scared of his teacher! I'm not talking mean wise but as in strictness. I have a sinking feeling we will get to know this teacher too well. I wonder exactly how many gray hairs I will get this school year?!

Enjoy your evening!

A Couple Ornaments

It seems like the more I try and not do anything the busier I get! I just keep telling myself things will calm down after Monday when the kids go back to school. LOL....who am I trying to fool, even I don't believe that one.

I didn't get a chance to do any stitching today but yesterday I did finish these 2 designs into ornaments. I had originally planned on making a tassel for Goodluck Baby but I couldn't make a decent looking tassel no matter how hard I tried. I think it turned out cute. :)

I didn't do anything special to this one

I am not sure what tomorrow has in store for me. The forecast for tomorrow is rain and if that is true then I will probably just keep close to the house as I don't like to drive in the rain. However, if it does rain I will have to try and keep the kids from killing each other all day long. They are such loving siblings....LOL!

Have a great night!

Too Cute to Spook

You might have noticed I didn't say anything last week about my SAL with Renee. That is because I was able to finish it last week and Renee just lacked a few stitches so I waited to post until Renee was finished which was last night. :)

So, without further adieu, here she is her grand and glory........

Standing Alone

Today was another milestone day for Megan. My little girl stood by herself unassisted! She is only 10 1/2 months old! And technically if you go by her preemie age she is only 8-9 months old! Also this week she has learned how to clap her hands together and say "yay".

Since this is the last week before the kids go back to school I am trying to being as lazy as I can be. My laziness produced this piece framed today. :)

I even managed to get some stitchind done, too!

Hopefully, tomorrow will be as productive! Have a great evening!

No Zoo

I am going to quit saying anything about possible future plans because every time I do something prevents us and we end up not doing them at all. I mentioned earlier this week that we would be going to the zoo today. Nope we didn't get to go. 2 reasons....one is Mike had to work today because he has a new work schedule AND it was storming this morning. Yep.....that is my luck!

However, there is a silver lining and it is I can sit on my butt and stitch today! Actually, that is what I did yesterday as it was too yucky and hot to really do anything. I worked on Rain with Attitude and I am pleased with how much I have gotten done this week. :)

It is hard to believe but this is the kids' last week of summer vacation. I will be glad to get back into the school routine but then again I won't be ready either. We have all the school shopping done minus what specific items the teachers request. Krissy and Allie have their class schedules and toured the high school. I am still having a hard time adjusting to the idea of 2 teenage girls in high school this year! I keep saying I am not old enough to have 2 teenage girls but then I have to remind myself that I am that old. Ugghhh......35 this year isn't going to be pretty! Mac will meet his teacher this Thursday. (I can post that as it is something that has to be done!)

Have a great day!

Tea Dyed Fabric

I can't believe how fast this week has flown by for me. It seems like I haven't sat and still for more than 5 minutes at a time. I was able to stitch for an hour in the mornings while at Krissy's softball practice so I made a little progress on Rain with Attitude.

I am stitching this design on some 28 count fabric that I hand dyed using tea. I am pleased with the result. I definitely see more tea dying for me in the future.:)

I am not sure how much stitching I will get done this weekend as it looks to be a busy one for us again. Mike's work schedule has changed so he will be gone all day on Saturday and on Sunday we are going to the Henry Doorly Zoo with his dad/step-mom/sister and her boyfriend and her daughter for the day. Hopefully, I will get some more pretty kitty pictures.:)

I hope everyone has had a great week!

Gargae Sales and Stitching

All I can say about this week is I am glad it is over and I hope to not have another one like this one for a long time!

As I have mentioned before I love to go to garage sales and this week I found a great buy. I got 30 full rolls of ribbon for $5.00! There is one missing out of the picture as my eldest daughter snagged one for her hair.

I have been stitching a little here and there on Moonlight's Visit but today I realized I have pretty much stitched all I can with the DMC. I desperately need to make a trip to the LNS and pick up the Kreiniks I need to finish this one. Which means for the time being this one gets to reside in the UFO pile.

I also started a new piece today. :) It is called Rain With Attitude from Stoney Creek. (Chiloe, I think you are gonna like it!) It is a snowman design. I am stitching it on some 28 count fabric that I dyed using tea bags. This was the first time I have used tea bags and was pretty pleased with the result. Unfortunately, I didn't make much progress on it so I don't have a picture to show just yet.

Have a great night!
