Outer Border Finished

I have still been working on ES since my last post. I was determined to finish ALL of the outer border minus the beads that will be added last. :)

Today marks a small milestone for my pregnancy. I am now 16 weeks along and not one problem! I don't count my morning sickness as a problem because I had it just as bad with the other 3 kids. When I was pregnant with Mac at this very moment I was in the hospital being told that my water had broke and I would be having the baby within 72 hours with no hope for survival. So in order of a small celebrations we bought our first purchase of baby gear. :) We bought the little one a bouncer. I just love the color it is, too! Blue and purple:)

I have finally decided on some yarn so I can start on the little one's blanket. I was having a hard time trying to decide exactly on a pattern for the afghan so I just decided to go ahead and use the same one I used with the other kids. When it is finished it should be about 38 inches by 38 inches. Perfect size to throw over the car seat in the fall and winter. :)

The colors are a little darker in the picture than they really are. I just love the color combinations in this yarn!

Have a great weekend!!

Egyptian Progress

It was another fairly quiet day for me today. As you can tell I am savoring every last minute of peace and quiet before next Tuesday when the kids get out for summer break.

I have been working on ES for the last 2 days and I have almost all the borders stitched. I still have to fill in the outer border and the back stitching but I am getting so close to finishing it.:)

Heart Roll

I decided since it was raining off and on today that I would go ahead and finish the needle roll. That wasn't exactly the smartest thing to do with 3 kids couped up in the house. Needless to say it ended up taking a little bit longer to finish that if I had waited till they were at school!

Antique Heart Roll
From Shepherd's Bush
Kit
As a general rule, I don't stitch kits because I usually run out of floss or something like that. I was reminded with this kit as to my rule. I didn't run out of floss but I came real close with the light pink. Also, I like a little more extra fabric on my sides but this particular fabric was the exact size needed....no room for any kind of mistake! Oh well, I am not complaining as I bought this particular kit at a thrift store for $1.50. :)
It has been a pretty quiet weekend around here. Which is always nice for me!:) Friday I finished the back stitching on my snowman RR. He looks so much better with details.

After that I started a needle roll from Shepherd's Bush called Antique Heart Roll. All I have left to do is attach the beads and charm. Then I can finish it into a needle roll.:)

I was really looking forward to curling up with Harvest Witch and stitching the day away but that didn't happen. :(

I'm not sure if or what I will work on today. I had a pretty rough day yesterday with morning sickness and I am still feeling a little yucky today.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Housework Goes To.....

First of all, I want to thank everyone who entered the drawing for the Housework pillow! It really means a lot to me that you would like to have my stitching in your homes. Thank you!! :)

Allie was my little helper today and the name she drew was.....Von! If you will send me send me your address( msgal28 @gmail.com ) I will get it in the mail early next week.:)

Plain Lazy

Did you notice how I didn't take the fabric out of the hoop to take a picture? That shows how lazy I was yesterday! I don't know why I was like that. I felt pretty good and didn't think I was tired but apparently my body thought otherwise. I fell asleep around 11:30 AM but didn't wake up till 3:00 PM! My first thought was...I am not going to be able to sleep tonight! However, I was completely wrong. I was fast asleep by 10:00 PM and slept right through to 5:30 AM to get the kids up for school.

Anyways, this was all the back stitching I got done on my RR square yesterday. :( As you can see I am stitching the Autumn snowman. I know that doesn't surprise anyone. LOL

I guess Scamper was pretty tuckered out yesterday, too. She looks like an angel here but that is only because she is sleeping! When she is awake she is constantly looking for new ways to get herself into trouble.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Alphabet Box

I can finally reveal a finish I had over the weekend. You might remember I stitched BRD Alphabet Tree but never finished it. I never finished it because it was for a birthday present for Renee and I needed to find the perfect fabric to match. Well, after searching and searching I couldn't find any fabric so that left me to paint the box. I was really nervous about painting it because I was worried the paint would end up drying to light but that didn't happen. It matches perfectly! :)

It was a pretty quiet day here. I got caught up on the house cleaning and laundry so I didn't stitch much this morning. I did manage to finish the cross stitching on my snowman. I am hoping to finish the back stitching tomorrow.
Have a nice evening!

Flange Pillow

It has been a yucky week so far and I am not talking the weather. Mike has been sick since Sunday with some kind of yucky bug. I know he is sick because he slept all day yesterday, last night, and most of today. As much as I love him, he has been lovingly quarantined from me. I don't need or want to get that bug!

I was going to finish Housework Never Killed this morning but since I needed my sewing machine and Mike was sleeping I decided to wait till he was awake. Instead I started my square in a RR that I am participating in with Renee, Veronica, and Chris. My theme for this RR will be snowmen. The pattern I am using is called Happy Everything from Stoney Creek. I didn't make enough progress to take a picture just yet. It is a black and white blob right now.

This afternoon I did get a chance to finish Housework Never Killed into a flange pillow. I think it turned out pretty cute.

If you would like to give this pillow a good home, leave me a comment and I will draw the winner's name from a hat on Saturday. :)
Have a great evening!

Housework....

I picked up this little snippet from Lizzie*Kate at my LNS on Saturday. I started working on it last night and finished a little while ago. :)

I have some matching fabric to finish it but I am not quite sure how I want to finish it yet.

Good Progress

I was all hyped and ready to start on Topaz Fairie's wings when I realized that I was missing a Kreinik color! I am not sure if I forgot to order it or it maybe didn't get ordered at all. Either way I am still missing one much needed color. I was so irritated that I ended up not working on her at all last night. Instead I reached for a comforting piece which is Egyptian Sampler. :) I am glad I did because I made some really good progress on it.

I finished the rest of page 3 last night and started on page 4 today. :) I really want to keep working on this one till it is finished but I still have a little ways to go and I don't want to burn myself out on it.

Here is a picture of the glow in the dark Kreiniks for Harvest Witch. They really do glow in the dark! :)

I hope everyone is having a nice evening!

Kreiniks Finally Arrived!

So far the weekend is off to a good start for me. I had to do my normal Saturday errands so I stopped at Hobby Lobby to pick up some much needed DMC and ended up coming home with Stoney Creek Leaflet #381. Then I headed off to my LNS to discover my Kreiniks have finally arrived! Yay!! That means I can finally finish Harvest Witch. :) However, as my luck runs, Renee has some important things going on this weekend so we won't be SAL'ing tomorrow.

I hope to be able to get some good stitching time in tonight because I want to work on Topaz Fairie's wings!

I hope everyone is have a great weekend! :)

A Lot of Nothing

I want to thank everyone for their get better wishes. I am feeling a little better today. I had to go see Dr L yesterday as he wanted to make sure I wasn't getting dehydrated. Good news is I was a little dehydrated but not bad enough that I had to have an IV...whew! I admit I am a wimp when it comes to needles. Bad news is I have lost 7 pounds. That puts me below my weight I was before I was pregnant.

So for the past couple of day I have been pretty much a couch potato trying to take it easy. What does a girl do to keep herself occupied? Stitch, of course:) I have been working on ES and finished the satin stitch row with the lazy daisies (yuck!). I also finished the back stitching on the falcon box or as much as I could since I ran out of 3045. Right now I am working on the Pharaoh box stitching 1/1 on his face. I haven't had much of a problem with the 1/1 because this piece is on 28 count. Unlike TdM which is being stitched 1/1 on 32 count fabric.

And now for this week's SBQ:

For seasoned stitchers: Define a stitching term or acronym for new stitchers.

For newbies: What stitching term or acronym would you like defined?

I have been blogging for awhile so I know most of the abbreviations. Here are a few of my favorites:

*WTF-Waiting To Finish...actually that wasn't my first guess the first time I saw this one...lol

*BAP-Big A$$ Piece

*SEX-Stash Enhancing eXperience...again another one that made me stop and go...huh?!

TdM Update

I pulled out Tour des Marques yesterday and actually made some progress! Okay, so it's not a lot but for this piece it is to me.

I haven't done much stitching today. I haven't felt good since yesterday morning. I'm supposed to be nearing the end of morning sickness but it seems like it is getting worse. Right now even the thought of food makes my tummy queasy. Which isn't making it easy to gain weight. So for now my diet consists of soup, crackers, and juice or ice water. I know this will pass....eventually but I sure do miss "real" food.

Exhausting Weather

I didn't get as much stitched on ES yesterday as I had hoped because we had another bout of severe storms. It was scary for a little bit. Around supper time the tornado sirens went off and shortly after that we lost power. We were lucky enough and didn't have any damage but I have come to the conclusion that Baby does not like mommy getting upset. During all the chaos I started getting sick. Needless to say by 9 PM I was completely exhausted and fell asleep only to be scared out of my skin when the power came back on around 11 PM. I sure don't remember the TV being that loud before the power went out!

At least today was a beautiful day full of sun and temperatures in the upper 60's. Now, that is my kind of weather.:) I will enjoy it as long as possible because on Tuesday we are have a chance for more storms.

I had a pretty good Mother's Day. We didn't do anything special but I didn't have to cook or clean so that made for a great day.:) I did start on Summer's Magic but I'm too lazy to take a picture tonight. The best part is I get to watch the one and only sport we watch on TV. Monster Jam....I love it!! Of course Mike and I root for different trucks..LOL. He roots for Grave Digger aka Dennis Anderson and I root for Maximum Destruction aka Tom Meents. Go Max D!!

I hope all mothers had a great day today! Happy Mother's Day to everyone.:)

Ladybug

I was able to get this little ladybug finished into an ornament yesterday afternoon. Originally I had planned on making it into a fob but I miscalculated the length of my cording so the result is an ornament.

The ladybug is from Summer Fobs from Heart in Hand. I stitched it on some 28 count white fabric with DMC threads.
I did work on ES a tiny bit until I ran out of DMC 3045. I will probably work on ES some more later today.

Tomorrow I will be starting a new project. I will be stitching Summer's Magic from Dragon Dreams with Renee. What a better way to spend Mother's Day....relaxing and stitching one of my favorite designers designs.:)

Have a great day!

Stray Surprise

I have said many times that I have a neon sign flashing somewhere above my house that says "Strays Welcome". Well, apparently it was flashing brightly yesterday because when the kids got off the school bus they were greeted by these little guys (or gals?).

Over my 33 years I have had several 4 legged strays show up but I have never had a 2 legged one show up! All I could do last night was keep repeating "We have geese here."

I didn't get a lot of stitching done yesterday. I started working on a small design. It is perfect for a fob.:) Hopefully, I will be able to finish it sometime today.

Have a great weekend!

Unicorn Progress

We lucked out and didn't have the severe weather they were talking about yesterday. Whew!! It did rain all day but that was okay. I love to curl up and stitch on rainy days. :)

I worked on Unicorn and made some good progress yesterday. :) I will say back stitching the mane is a pain in the you know what!

Enjoy your day!

Border Done

It is going to be a long day and it's not even 9 AM yet! We are in for more storms that may produce "strong winds and hail" today and tonight.

At least I don't have to worry about driving in the rain today. Mike did a quick look at the car and confirmed one of the motor mounts broke. Yep, my car is staying put for a few days. At least it is a semi easy fix which Mike can do himself but he won't be able to get to it until Sunday on his day off. That is if it isn't raining!

I was able to finish the back stitching on ES last night and I even got the Eye of Ra stitched. This is one pattern I could work on everyday but since it is a TW pattern it is best I put it back into the pile on a good note.:) I'm sorry the picture is a little dark...storms have a tendency to make things dark. The last progress picture is actually the best picture of the colors...it was taken outside.

I have been feeling kind of restless when it comes to doing my stitching lately. I actually want to so some crocheting and sewing for the baby but until we know the sex of the baby that is kind of put on hold temporarily. Another thing I want to try is making a baby quilt. If anyone knows of a real easy pattern for one please let me know. :)

I'm off to try and find something to keep my hands and mind occupied during this current round of storms!

Have a wonderful day!

Fabric Run Foiled

I worked on Egyptian Sampler today but I haven't finished the back stitching yet. I sort of lost my stitching mojo today. I had planned on running into town and buying the fabby I need to start Mine All Mine. I was going to start this when I finished the border. To make a long story short something is wrong with my car and now it is waiting for Mike to see what I broke on it. Which means I wasn't able to make it to town. :( So it looks like I will be working on ES for a little while longer.

When I say I am "setting aside" or "putting away" for awhile, it normally means I am just putting it away for a week or so. There has been occasions when I have set something aside for months (Woodland Faerie) but generally i just try and stitch on all my WIP's before I work on it again. Also, when I work on a large project I try to work on it for 2 days before I switch to another WIP but sometimes if I am really enjoying stitching on a piece I will just work on that one.

It looks like it will be another quiet evening around here. Mike is bringing dinner home since I didn't make it to the grocery store today. After dinner is over the evening is mine to stitch on ES. Hopefully I can finish that border tonight. :)

Have a good night!

Egyptian Update

It has been a pretty quiet day around here for me. I am trying to savour my quiet time as much as possible because in one month the kids will be out for summer break. Ugh...I don't even want to think about that!

While enjoying my peace and quiet I worked on Egyptian Sampler. I worked on filling in the outer border and started the back stitching. I will probably work on this one for a bit tomorrow. I would like to finish all of the outer border before I put this one aside.

Have a good night!

Gifts For Chiloe and Me

Remember how I have said I don't like spring because of the weather? About 4:00 AM a bad storm reared its ugly head and caused part of a tree to fall on the roof over our bedroom. Thankfully, no damage to the house!

However, my day was brightened by Dee. She made me this gorgeous dishcloth! I am totally fascinated with knitting. I can crochet but I have never learned how to knit. Thank you so much Dee!

The last of my blogoversary gifts found it's home. I made this little fob for Chiloe. The design is a freebie from Pam Kellogg called Harvest Pumpkin. I really like how the pumpkin turned out. I have plans to make one for me eventually. :)

Here is the back of the fob.

As for my pregnancy, everything is going great so far. I had a nutrition appointment this week and I was happy with my weight gain but they weren't. I have gained 4 ounces! With the other 3 kids by this time I had lost about 8 pounds because of morning sickness. I got the lecture that I need to gain more weight. Ideally they would like to see a pound a week from now on. Yeah right! For me gaining weight is not an easy thing to do. It's not because I don't eat...I LOVE to eat!

As of today I am 12 weeks along....believe me reaching this point has eased a LOT of my fears about something going wrong.

Have a great weekend!

Snowman Finished!

I was determined to finish Snowman and Friends last night. Of course, this kind of determination always works best if you don't have someone interrupting you every 5 seconds.

Snowman and Friends by Linda Gillum
Fabric-28 count white Jobelan
Fibers-DMC threads

I have to admit this happy dance feels great! :)
